The Course
"One of the best courses in Somerset. Mr Henry Fowler designed the course and deserves mention but much of the credit for the modern course is down to the expertise and work of Jeff Mills, the Course Manager and his staff”

View of the 13th.
The original 9 hole course was designed in 1892 by Mr Henry Fowler who is credited with designing The Berkshire (Red), Walton Heath (Old), Saunton and Cruden Bay. Mr Fowler also designed the original 18 hole Pickeridge course in 1925. The natural contours of Pickeridge Hill provide some very interesting holes and the effect of 18th Century limestone mining has added a fascinating dimension to many parts of the course.
Three new holes were added in 1969 and significant adjustments made to the course layout in 2003 to give a course over 6000 yards and par 69. A state-of-the-art computer controlled irrigation system was recently installed to keep greens, approaches and tees in excellent condition in dry periods. In summer, the course is normally in superb condition. In winter, the vagaries of the weather have a greater influence but in recent years, the course has rarely been closed and winter greens only brought into use infrequently.
There are spectacular views to the East across Sedgemoor to Glastonbury Tor and the Mendips, to the West lie the Brendons and Exmoor, to the North the Vale of Taunton and the beautiful Quantocks and to the South the Blackdowns.

Members Annual Nature Walk
The course is also a County Wildlife Site and has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Course Manager works closely with the Somerset Wildlife Trust, Somerset Environmental Records Centre and the English Nature SW Team. Many rare plants can be found on the course and 52 species of birds and many butterflies and moths have been recorded.
The Course Manager, Jeff Mills, is well known and respected in BIGGA and has represented UK internationally on green keeping matters. In addition to his work at T&P, he advises a number of other courses and teaches at Cannington College. He has well trained and dedicated staff which includes Shaun Richards, who has been the Club Champion 9 times.
A challenging test of golf in wonderful surroundings awaits you.
